Suggested areas to stay

rooozt splits this destination into 5 areas — curated and written by the rooozt team, not scraped or scored.

Patong

Patong Beach is Phuket's nightlife hub. Bangla Road stays busy all night with the densest concentration of bars, clubs and international restaurants on the island. It suits travellers who want convenience and life happening around them 24 hours a day.

Kata

Kata Beach is much smaller than Patong and feels more family- and couple-oriented, with beachfront restaurants, cafes and the Kata Noi viewpoint all within walking distance. There is still a decent buzz here, without Patong's intensity.

Karon

Karon is the longest and widest of the three beaches on this coast. It is clearly quieter than Patong but still has plenty of restaurants and convenience stores. It suits people who want a beautiful beach for actual rest rather than partying.

Phuket Old Town

The old town is full of brightly coloured Sino-Portuguese shophouses, hipster cafes and the Saturday Walking Street. There is no beach in this neighbourhood, but it has the strongest cultural atmosphere and the best photo spots in Phuket.

Bang Tao / Laguna

Bang Tao Beach is home to the luxury resorts and golf courses of the Laguna area. The mood is calm and upmarket, suiting families and couples who want to relax away from the crowds. It sits a fair distance from Patong's nightlife.
