Cheap Hotels in Tokyo Near Stations: 8 Picks Rated 8.5+

A Tokyo stay near a train station, at a good price and with good reviews: first-time visitors want all three at once. We priced 233 stays within 8 km of Ginza and Tokyo Station for Tuesday 26 January 2027 and measured the straight-line distance from each to the stations with a direct airport train. Short answer: private rooms within 400 m of those stations, scored 8.5 from at least 500 reviews and at or under the 2,585-baht median per room, number zero. Something has to give.

This page sorts the 8 stays that pass into three options by what you trade — pay more, walk further, or sleep in a dorm bed — with room prices by night and the Saturday-to-Tuesday ratio. What this page is not: not a safety ranking of neighbourhoods, not live prices, and not a paid list.

Can a Tokyo stay be near the station, well priced and well reviewed?

Of the 233 stays, 43 scored 8.5 or more from at least 500 reviews and were priced on Tuesday 26 January 2027: 35 private rooms and 8 dorm beds or capsules. None belong to the Accor group.

9 private rooms are within 400 m of an airport-rail station in a straight line, but none is at or under the 2,585-baht median. Widen to 800 m and 3 fit the budget; across all 233 stays, 8 private rooms pass and fit.

Every figure is a per-room, per-night price for 2 adults in 1 room, pulled from the feed rooozt uses on 14 October 2026. The count table is at the end of the article.

Easy to get around: which stations count?

This page counts only stations with a train that runs from the airport without a change, per each operator's official page: Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya and Shinjuku (N'EX from Narita), Keisei Ueno and Nippori (Skyliner from Narita), and the Toei Asakusa Line, where some trains run through to Narita via Oshiage and to Haneda via Sengakuji.

Distances are straight lines from the stay's coordinates in the feed to the station's coordinates in OpenStreetMap. Walking is always longer and depends on the exit, so we do not convert distances into walking minutes.

What does a Tokyo room cost a night in January and April?

On Tuesday 26 January 2027, the 176 stays that opened prices had a median of 2,585 baht per room per night; a quarter were under 1,946 baht (P25) and the dearest quarter started at 4,798 baht (P75).

The same hotels cost a median 1.27 times more on Saturday 30 January than on Tuesday 26 January (168 pairs). The 12/16 January pair gives 1.35 (165 pairs), close to the 1.33 we measured in our Tokyo 5-day budget article. In cherry-blossom season, Tuesday 6 April cost a median 1.59 times 26 January (118 pairs).

Travelling alone saves less than you might think: in the same hotel on the same night, the 1-adult price was a median 0.93 times the 2-adult price (176 pairs), because the room offered is usually the same size.

How many pass, and what do you trade?

When all three are not on offer, you give up one. So the stays that pass are split into three options: A pays above the median for a private room by an airport-rail station, B keeps a private room within budget but walks further or changes trains, and C stays by the station within budget in a dorm bed or capsule.

The cards for each option are at the end of the article, unranked and without prices, because your night will not cost what 26 January did.

Option A: where are the private rooms by an airport-rail station?

The nine private rooms within 400 m of an airport-rail station sit around Asakusabashi, Shimbashi, Nihombashi, Ikebukuro and Shibuya, and every one cost more than the median on 26 January. The two we card are by Asakusabashi Station and fall between the median and P75 (4,798 baht).

Asakusabashi is on the Toei Asakusa Line, next to the JR Chuo-Sobu Line station, two stops south of Asakusa, so Senso-ji and Kuramae are close.

Option B: how far is a private room within budget?

8 private rooms pass and fit within the median. The closest to an airport-rail station are around 500–700 m away; most are 2 km or more, around Minami-Senju north of Ueno or Akebonobashi east of Shinjuku, each a few hundred metres from its own metro station.

Two details from the room types the feed returned: tokyosaryokan's room has a bunk bed, and Palace Japan's twin is non-smoking. Check the room details again when you book.

Landing at Narita or Haneda: which station should you stay near?

Narita: N'EX stops at Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya and Shinjuku; the Skyliner stops at Nippori and Keisei Ueno; some Keisei trains run through onto the Toei Asakusa Line at Oshiage. Haneda: some Keikyu trains run through onto the Toei Asakusa Line at Sengakuji, reaching Shimbashi and Asakusa without a change.

Not every train runs to the airport, so check the timetable on the day. Fares and journey times for each route are in our Japan airport-to-city article.

Option C: who is a dorm bed or capsule for?

Travelling alone and want to be by an airport-rail station within budget? 4 dorm or capsule stays fit the median within 400 m. The two carded are single-sex by the feed's room type: beds in a women's dormitory in Asakusa, and a men-only capsule in Shinjuku.

The selection price is for 2 adults, which in these rooms means 2 beds. Most capsules have no lockable door and use lockers for luggage; check the property's rules before you book.

5 things to check before you book a Tokyo stay

Five checks you can make before you book

  • Check whether the price is per room or per person, and whether tax is included
  • Open a map: which line is the nearest station on, and how many changes from your airport
  • Read the room size and bed type; Tokyo rooms are smaller than many expect
  • Check the cancellation terms and check-in time, especially for a late landing
  • Save the Japan Visitor Hotline, 050-3816-2787 (24 hours, per JNTO's official page)

What this page is not, and what the data cannot tell you

This page does not judge which area or stay is safe, has no data on noise, and gives no walking distance or time; every distance is a straight line.

Prices are only for the nights named, pulled on 14 October 2026, and a different number of stays opened prices each night: just 119 and 113 of 233 in April.

rooozt does not sell rooms, no stay paid to be listed, and the card order does not depend on any payment.

8 Tokyo stays that pass, grouped by what you trade

Each scored 8.5 or more from at least 500 reviews and was priced on both Tuesday 26 and Saturday 30 January 2027. Cards are not ranked and show no price, because prices change daily.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Tokyo stay near a train station per night?
On Tuesday 26 January 2027, the 176 stays that opened prices had a median of 2,585 baht per room per night for 2 adults. But no private room within 400 m of an airport-rail station with a score of 8.5 from 500 reviews came in at or under that median. Data pulled 14 October 2026.
How far is 400 metres from a station?
Here, 400 metres is the straight line from the stay's coordinates to the station's coordinates in OpenStreetMap. Walking is always longer and depends on the exit, so we do not turn it into minutes. Open a map and check the route from the nearest exit before you book.
Why are the budget private rooms not by the airport-rail stations?
On data pulled 14 October 2026, 9 passing private rooms sit by an airport-rail station and all cost more than the median on 26 January. Most of the 8 passing private rooms within budget are 2 km or more from those stations, though each has its own metro station nearby.
Is Saturday dearer than a weekday in Tokyo?
Yes. Pairing the same hotels, Saturday 30 January 2027 cost a median 1.27 times Tuesday 26 January (168 pairs), and the 12/16 January pair gave 1.35 (165 pairs). Both point the same way. Data pulled 14 October 2026.
Do capsule hotels lock?
Most capsules have no lockable door, just a curtain or shutter, and provide lockers for luggage. Many separate floors or buildings by sex, but the rules differ between properties, so read them before you book.

Where the numbers come from: Every price on this page comes from the price feed rooozt uses, pulled on 14 October 2026 for 2 adults in 1 room, in baht (except the 1-adult row). The 233 stays were found by searching two city names for 1 to 4 adults and 1 to 2 rooms on 17 November 2026, a night not used in any comparison, then keeping those within 8 km of the centre of the Ginza and Tokyo Station area. The same set was then priced on every compared night. Medians are group medians, not the price of any one stay, and ratios are medians of pairs priced on both nights. Station coordinates were read from OpenStreetMap (ODbL) on 14 October 2026 and distances are straight lines. The list of stations with a direct airport train comes from the official JR East, Keisei and Toei pages read the same day. Sumo dates come from the official page recorded in our Tokyo book-ahead tickets article, and the 2027 university entrance test dates from Resemom's report of the test centre's announcement; check again before you travel.
